Well, I think Euginidis made Cecilia die first because each girl has their own personality, which makes them very different from each other. Cecilia was the sister who was quiet, drawn back from the group, and mostly kept to herself, she always wore this vintage style wedding dress and was very in-touch with herself mentally, but she never expressed herself much to anyone else, and that may have caused her to end her life so soon. I think that Euginidis picked such a touchy subject to write about because it shows that in this world, nothing is ever what it sees. In everyone's eyes the Lisbon sisters seemed like normal teenagers, and then one day, Cecilia goes and kills herself. This subject is also reflected on females most of the time because the female species tend to indulge in their emotions alot more than males do. Sometimes, they are lost in a whirlpool of their emotions and they don't know how to cope with it, especially during their teenage years when already they are facing alot of stress with trying to fit in and finding themselves.
Moving on...
So, after the suicide, the Lisbon household was quiet, very solemn. Everyone continued on with their routines almost robotically. School started again and the girls walked side by side ignoring the looks and stares from their peers and blocking out the whispers behind their backs as they passed by. They each were having trouble dealing with the loss of their sister, but Lux, the second to youngest sister dealt with the loss in a way that stuck out to me; she would often hang around a motorcycle gang and, "One biker asked her to go for a ride, and after looking in the direction of her house more than ten miles away, she accepted. She hugged his waist. He kicked the machine into life. Later, Lux was seen walking home alone, carrying her shoes. This type of behavior among young girls is common, especially when they are dealing with tough situations. The fact that she looked in the direction her house and then agreed to going with the guy showed that at that time, home wasn't comforting and welcoming for her, so she sought the comfort and welcome of someone else; a man. Most girls usually seek older men as comfort becase they feel safe and wanted when they are going through hard situations. As time passes, a boy, by the name of Trip Fontaine, who was one of the most adored boys in their school, developed an attraction towards Lux, however, she barely noticed him which drove him crazy because he never had to chase after a girl before. But I have a feeling that all the spotlight on Lux is going to cause her to end up the same way as Cecilia...
